Studi Penggunaan Kemoterapi Pada Pasien Kanker Paru (Penelitian Dilakukan Di Rumah Sakit TNI-AL Dr. Ramelan Surabaya)


The epidemic of lung cancer mortality has been identified as a major health issue confronting both developed and developing countries. Two major types of lung cancer are NSCLC (Non Small Cell Carcinoma) and SCLC (Small Cell Carcinoma). The subtypes of NSCLC are squamous cell, adenocarcinoma and large cell. Lung cancer is largely by exposure to tobacco smoke. Chemotherapy preferred over best treatment for cancer with spreading metastasis. This study was aimed to analyze the usage of chemotherapy in lung cancer patients at Dr. Ramelan Navy Hospital Surabaya from period I st of January 2006 to 31St of December 2007. The study was focused on drug usage pattern and Drug Related Problems (DRPs) that found in patients received chemotherapy. The data was collected using retrospective method from patient medication record, then analyze descriptively. The results were compared with therapy criteria. The result of the study showed that the prevalence of lung cancer was higher in male (74%) than female according to smoking habit that dominated by male. The highest prevalence of lung cancer was patients in average 61-70 years old. The type of lung cancer was dominated by adenocarcinoma (81 %). Stage IV was the highest prevalence of lung cancer (45%). The regimens of chemotherapy that most used were Cyclophosphamide–Doxorubicin--Carboplatin (64%), then Gemcitabine-Carboplatin (23%). The dose giving of each chemotherapy based on BSA (Body Surface Area) of the patients individually. Outcome therapy was determined from the value of tumor marker, it was CEA (Carcino Embryonic Antigen). The chemotherapy drug used for lung cancer patients was generally appropriate with the guideline of Dr. Ramelan Navy Hospital Surabaya
